Cancer New Moon Reflections | The Gift of Falling Apart

“There Is an unknown gift to falling apart. Everything that grows seems to need falling apart. A seed dropping into the ground - if it keeps itself whole, there is no forest. It needs to split up & fall apart. Being at home means permission to fall.”

- Bayo Akomolafe

Are you willing to let yourself fall apart so you can grow into your truest potential?

That is exactly what we practiced together under the Cancer New Moon.

We allowed ourselves to be witnessed in what is falling apart within our emotional foundations so we could begin creating a stronger, more authentic foundation with the people, places, and parts of ourselves that truly feel like home.

As the humid summer air wrapped around us, I couldn't help but feel as though the heat was melting away everything that was no longer true. I was sweating simply by existing, and it felt like my body was participating in the transformation right alongside my soul.

Together, we explored the question:

What no longer feels emotionally safe?

As each voice was shared, a common thread emerged.

Many of us no longer feel safe in performative or inauthentic spaces, the uncertainty of the unknown, relationships where we don't know where we stand, or in the exhausting attempt to cling to the illusion of control.

Instead of trying to think our way through these truths, we invited our bodies to lead.

As we slowly walked the labyrinth, we allowed what no longer feels emotionally safe to soften and dissolve. Standing in the center, we listened for the new awareness our bodies had been waiting to reveal and then quite literally shook the old stories free.

Each person was then invited to receive an image and ask:

What helps me grow? What helps me feel at home?

The wisdom that emerged was beautiful to witness.

Sharing our reflections became preparation for our Dreams of Home ritual, where we gathered a memory of when we felt deeply rooted and created somatic bookmarks—felt experiences our bodies can return to whenever we need to remember what home feels like within ourselves.

Together, we created a flower mandala using flowers and juniper gathered from the land, symbolizing the new emotional foundation we are each tending as we continue to grow.

Then the mosquitoes arrived in full force.

Oddly enough, I experienced them as a warning. The next morning, smoke from the Canadian and Minnesota wildfires filled our skies. Moments like these continue to leave me in awe of the mysterious ways Spirit speaks when we're willing to pay attention.

That same morning, I was gifted another messenger—a frog.

Frog medicine is a symbol of transformation, renewal, emotional cleansing, and crossing thresholds. It reminds us that growth asks us to shed what no longer fits so we can fully embrace the next chapter of who we are becoming.

It felt like the perfect affirmation of everything we had moved through together in circle.

Falling apart isn't failure.

It's often the very beginning of becoming.

If you're longing for a brave community where you can be fully witnessed in your wholeness, where your body's wisdom is honored, and where you can remember what it feels like to truly belong...

Come be a Wildflower with us.

From my wild heart to yours, may you trust the wisdom of what is falling away, remember that home lives within you, and keep blossoming into all that you are here to become.
