Reflection: Capricorn New Moon - Courage is Fear, Walking

“Courage is fear, walking”

~ Susan David

In circle, we get to witness the courage of each wildflower, bravely showing up as their unapologetic selves—giving voice to what often goes unspoken in the world.

For me, I was feeling emotionally heavy as it marked my mom’s two-month death anniversary, and allowing that to be witnessed was deeply healing. The next morning, it stirred younger versions of me, asking to be embraced—old stories whispering, you’re not doing it right and it’s not safe to be seen in the heaviness. By acknowledging her and reminding her we are safe, and that this was exactly the space to be fully me, she softened, settled in, and was soothed.

As we slow down together in circle and listen to our bodies, it can feel scary to open our hearts and worry that we’re doing it wrong—because this way of being is so counter to what the world teaches us as a form of protection.

Under the New Moon in Capricorn, we were offered a reset point for direction, discipline, and long-term vision. Just like tending a garden, we first needed to clear the field and compost what we were still holding from 2025.

What we composted (any of these feel familiar for you?):

  • The illusion of control outside of ourselves, which feeds self-doubt & insecurity

  • Justifying or explaining ourselves

  • Stories of what others are thinking about us

  • Fear of the unknown & false security

  • Not-enoughness or unworthiness

  • Clinging to what is familiar because it feels safer than the unknown

  • Perfectionism & constant striving

We got our hands in the dirt, mixing in what we were composting, before speaking our visions and goals—what we are building with clarity, integrity, and patience in 2026 and beyond—and offering them to the Earth. Using dried roses from my mom’s services, we created beauty within the soil, leaving it with gratitude and reverence as it dreams through us.

The ritual reminded us to slow down, nurture ourselves, and offer grace along the journey. It felt like so much shifted for each of us that night—through slowing, naming our truth, and reflecting on the past year to bring clarity to what we want to create moving forward.

In these times, we are being invited to expand our roots and remember who we are within authentic community—spaces that support us in rising into more of ourselves.

Bring your whole wildflower self. All of you is welcome here!

May you deepen and expand your roots, remembering that your truth is your highest offering.
