We Declare Our Sovereignty: Reflections from the Capricorn Full Moon
"We the people of earth DECLARE our sovereignty that has always been our human heritage, and TAKE BACK our power both as individuals and as a collective."
~ Women's Council for the True Earth
Under the Strawberry Full Moon in Capricorn, we turned toward an honest question:
What I once worked so hard for no longer feels worth the effort. Does it still deserve my devotion?
Capricorn invited us into deep discernment—helping us recognize where our energy naturally expands and where it quietly withdraws.
Together, we named what no longer belongs in the future we are creating. Perhaps some of these resonate with you:
Shrinking ourselves through self-doubt and insecurity.
Working 40+ hours a week with our worth tied to productivity.
Believing we must have all the answers or fix everyone else's problems.
Trying to control what is outside of ourselves.
Carrying ancestral patterns that are no longer ours to continue.
Sacrificing ourselves in the name of responsibility.
And, as if on cue, a deer quietly walked behind our circle, reminding us to move through this process with gentleness, grace, and compassion for ourselves.
Through the medicine of drumming, music, movement, and voice, we gave our emotions permission to rise to the surface. We brought awareness to Capricorn's body zone—the knees—noticing where we feel the pressure to hold everything together or carry more than is ours.
As Lorena drummed, each of us named, sang, spoke, or expressed what was no longer true—offering it to the Full Moon to be released.
We also shared songs, poems, reflections, and heartfelt expressions, witnessing one another in our humanity.
Following our release ritual, together we proclaimed the attached Declaration for a Sovereign Humanity, honoring Capricorn's wisdom as we continue stepping into the new five-year cycle we are collectively creating.
For our ritual honoring the Sea Goat, the symbol of Capricorn, each wildflower held a handful of sand, spoke a heartfelt commitment to ourselves, and sprinkled it upon the earth—symbolically grounding our intention and stepping into the life we are choosing to embody.
One truth continued to echo throughout the evening:
"This is a solitary journey we can't do alone."
While no one can walk your path for you, we all need spaces where we can be seen, witnessed, challenged, and celebrated.
If you're longing for a community where you can practice being your authentic self, where you don't have to carry it all alone, I invite you to join us in circle.
Together, we remember that brave community isn't something we find—it's something we create.
Walking beside you as we remember our sovereignty,
Jenny
I invite you to breathe life into the above Declaration with your voice.
