Reflection: Embracing the Wisdom from Adolescence Under the Cancer Moon

“A person in pain reacts to the world in pain. A person of peace reacts with peace.

That’s why we need to heal, so we do not bleed out onto each other.

We have a birthright. We have a heritage. It is still yours to take.” The Eternal Song Film

Will you allow yourself to receive the heritage that is your birthright?

We have been taught to respond from our pain & dilute our emotions, so we are not too much for the world. Or we become so strong that no one thinks we need help.  With the power of our Wildflower Circle, we practiced softening our hard protective shell to allow others to witness what’s soft inside to embrace more of our power.

We weaved a tapestry recognizing that you are all me & also my pain is a unique thread that will move each of us in different ways.  And by following our special thread we can allow our wounds to become our unique medicine for the world.

We each had different versions in adolescence of shapeshifting, perfecting, shrinking or being in the shadow of others, getting any attention we could get, being very armored & not understood, abandoning ourselves &/or our inherent truth, or being more invested than we received in return.

The deep dark watery Cancer Moon supported us to reveal the wisdom that came from our insecure & awkward adolescent self to use now through any changes we are navigating.   We slowed down to reflect on that wisdom to write a letter of advice to ourselves to harness that wisdom.

Together through rituals we blessed & cleansed our hard exterior shell to invite it to soften so we can allow ourselves to be supported.  A woman shared that snails are showing us the way as their heart is in their protective shell.  We then used the same water to alchemize our intentions & dreams as we gave them voice.  After circle, the sacred water was poured out onto the dreaming earth around the Grandmother Tree on the land.

Something happens to us when we can be witnessed and not fixed or coached to be any different than we are.  One sister said, “why can’t the world be more like this circle.”  And through our Wildflower circle we created ripples of healing in our lives & all that our life touches.  It is truly courageous to show up to be deeply seen & held in all that you are navigating, which impacts your capacity to meet & be with all of you when you are alone.

You get to choose on this solitary journey that we can’t do alone… You can continue living in fear & trying to do it all or you can be brave to receive the support you desire. Either way, choose your hard – it is hard isolating & doing it alone or it can be hard showing up to be witnessed.  Get curious, which one opens up more space for you to embrace your whole self?  I’d love to hear what shows up for you, just reply back to me.

May you “live the life that chooses you” & know the power of unconditional loving support from yourself & others.

Prescription for the Disillusioned - By Rebecca del Rio

Come new to this

Day. Remove the rigid

overcoat of experience,

The notion of knowing,

The beliefs that cloud

Your vision.

Leave behind the stories

Of your life. Spit out the

sour taste of unmet expectation.

Let the stale scent of what-ifs

Waft back into the swamp

Of your useless fears.

Arrive curious, without the armor

Of Uncertainty, the plans and planned

Results of the life you’ve imagined.

Live the life that chooses you, new

Every breath, every blink of

Your astonished eyes.
