Reflection: Full Moon in Scorpio to Free our Magical Inner Child
How might it feel to take a moment to breathe and let yourself land right where you are to receive the medicine from our Full Moon circle?
"If we could all see the world through the eyes of a child, we would see magic in everything." Unknown
Many times our inner child is denied, suppressed and made wrong in an effort to keep the peace, while protecting us and keeping us safe in the only way that we knew how at that age. "Our inner child is the 'original Self' who has absorbed everything that surrounded us as young children." Sophie Bashford
And with Mother's Day on Sunday & summer approaching it is the perfect opportunity to create space for childlike wonder to be expressed with the watery support of Scorpio. We worked with death last month to hold more life and to free up more space for our inner child.
"Remember your birth, how your mother struggled to give you form and breath. You are evidence of her life, and her mother’s, and hers." Joy Harjo
In circle, we allowed the Scorpio Full Moon to shine into our very depths to discover what has been anchoring us & uncover truths buried from childhood. We all held similar threads of a failure to be loved in childhood through abuse, neglect, feeling the pressure & demands of the serious adults, pleasing others & abandoning ourselves, or feeling invisible & trying to make ourselves invisible to not be seen as different. Each unattended thread of our being keeps us from the love & connection we were seeking. Bell Hooks says, "When we are loving we openly & honestly express care, affection, responsibility, respect, commitment, & trust." Are you open to practicing radically loving yourself through that definition of love?
"Love is as love does.” And we do as we witness others doing, not as they say. We were taught to be unloving & betrayed ourselves, keeping our inner child locked up & anchored down. In your inner garden, what were the 1st words sowed in your inner child's soils of your body during your formative years (0-7 years old)?
The water ritual allowed us to cleanse the stories drowning our inner child & experimented with expressing ourselves through our voices, sounds & movement to access our innocent, playful, creative & silly inner child out on the labyrinth. We used the water from the ritual to water the seeds that were planted at the last New Moon circle, showing us that nothing is ever wasted & will be used for us to grow from.
By the end the women felt giddy, joyful, like they were surrounded by rainbows, & having fun. Some also reflected how they have become the mother to their inner child & they can be that caring affection & love they wanted growing up.
Wildflowers from the circle said, "Thank you for continuing to hold space for all of us & making these things happen. It's so potent & deep. This space allows us to heal the deeper layers, ones that I don't normally allow myself to be seen in, in community." "I loved walking the labyrinth, coming out joyfully as a child was quite an experience." Another wildflower said, " Thank you so much for tonight, it was amazing! I wasn't sure how to work with that dark moody Scorpio moon, and you had us skipping through a field. Pure genius!!!"
