Reflection: Returning to Harmony, Truth & Love - Libra Dark Moon Circle

β€œI will not die an unlived life.  I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire.

I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid,

more accessible; to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise."

~Dawna Markova

In the eye of our circle on Monday night, we witnessed the toxic masculine and feminine through the element of fire. The smoke clouded our vision and dried our throats β€” reminding us to drink water, to soothe and speak our truth.

The firewood had been stacked tightly at the base of the pit, leaving no room for the fire to breathe. When I began adding wood, we noticed that the earth beneath was burning. We moved the wood away to create space for breath and added water to contain the flames. Then, my dad β€” the guardian of our circles β€” arrived to place sand underneath, grounding the energy with the protective presence of the divine masculine.

In that moment, we witnessed the sacred dance:

the masculine holding the frame, watching our backs,

so the feminine could soften, flow, and take up space freely.

We saw how, when the feminine (Mother Earth) is suppressed or suffocated, she burns under the weight of the masculine fire. Fire can warm us and light our way β€” or, when fed by too much fuel and wind, it can spread beyond control.

Together, we explored how we’ve each silenced the divine feminine and overpowered with the masculine in our patriarchal world β€” a world that has commodified women for over 5,000 years. We carried similar threads:

  • Over-functioning or hyper-independence, pushing others aside before support can arrive.

  • Suppressing the feminine through busyness and doing, forgetting how to be.

  • Silencing truth or needs to avoid conflict.

  • Criticizing ourselves for not being perfect.

  • Isolating instead of allowing ourselves to be held and supported.

We reflected on the ways we’ve been dishonest with ourselves and the truths we are ready to stand in. Then we moved that energy through our bodies β€” walking the labyrinth, crossing the veil from illusion to truth. In the center, we spoke our truths and walked out renewed, expanded.

We closed our ritual by planting mud and seeds along the outer edges of the labyrinth, infusing the earth with our heart’s intentions β€” to grow new wildflowers born from truth and love.

It was a potent New Moon β€” a return to harmony, truth, and love.

We do our soul work in community so that we may be witnessed into wholeness and carry that re-membrance back into our daily lives.
If you’ve been longing to root deeper into who you are and rise into all that you are becoming, you are warmly invited to join us in circle.

Living wide open: Landscapes of the mind

By: Dawna Markova, Phd

I will not die an unlived life.

I will not live in fear

Of falling or catching fire.

I choose to inhabit my days,

To allow my living to open me,

To make me less afraid,

More accessible;

To loosen my heart

Until it becomes a wing,

A torch, a promise.

I choose to risk my significance,

To live so that which came to me as seed

Goes to the next blossom,

And that which came to me as blossom,

goes on as fruit.
