When the Alarms Sound: Returning to Center in Uncertain Times - Aries New Moon Reflection
Change and death are two of the guarantees we sign up for when our souls come into being for this Earth school.
There is so much shifting in our world—systems we’ve long known are collapsing and being restructured. And if we take in every update, every headline, every moment… it’s easy to become overwhelmed and pulled into the storms outside of us, forgetting the unique gifts we are here to bring.
I don’t remember a time with this many tornado warnings so close together.
And of course, Spirit aligned it so that we received an imminent threat alert during our Aries New Moon circle.
We got to witness, in real time:
What happens in our bodies when alarms go off
How we respond under pressure
How long it takes to return to center
When the alarms stopped, I asked the Wildflowers:
“What do you need to feel safe and supported right now?”
This question invited each of us to get honest about our needs—
to find our way back into the present moment and into our bodies.
It wasn’t easy for everyone.
And that, too, was information.
Because this is part of the practice:
Learning how to resource ourselves
Staying open instead of shutting down
Meeting fear and overwhelm with presence
Through ritual, we began to move the energy—
scooping out all the ways we perform, play small, or pretend,
and creating space for the truth of who we are becoming.
We spoke aloud and ignited our desires—
claiming who we are here to be and what we are ready to experience.
From there, that energy rippled outward into prayer—
for our world, for what is ending, and for what is yet to come.
We wrote our prayers onto pieces of fabric,
later to be woven together,
a practice that connects me back to my Scottish lineage
and the deep remembering of interconnection and creation.
We are here, in this moment in time, to begin a new revolution.
One rooted in:
Prayer
Presence
Reimagining new structures for our world
(If you feel called, read “It’s Not My Revolution” by Emma Goldman below —this poem continues to inspire my heart and work.)
May you continue to find spaces where you can:
Listen to and honor your body
Stay rooted in your truth
Be unapologetically you
We would love to have you join the Wildflowers.
It’s not my revolution
By Emma Goldman
If I can’t dance and sing*, it’s not my Revolution.
If I can’t fuck up and learn from my mistakes, then it’s not my revolution.
If I can’t ask questions, then it’s not my revolution.
If I can’t bring my family, then it’s not my revolution.
If I can’t bring my culture, then it’s not my revolution.
If I can’t bring my ancestors, then it’s not my revolution.
And if it’s not our revolution, then let’s build a new one.
